Perhaps this site might look familiar? This majestic, overgrown temple is called Ta Prohm and was featured in the first Tomb Raider movie. It was originally known as Rajavihara, or Monastery of the King, and was built in 1186 by King Jayavarman VII in honor of his mother. This monastery had 600 rooms, courtyards & halls, housing thousands of people, including high priests, monks, assistants, dancers & laborers. Today, the trees have taken up residence – to incredible effect.
Here are two photo galleries from our visit to Ta Prohm Temple!
How are you 2 doing with all the coronavirus issues? Hope you are well.
All good so far. Cancelled a flight to Japan. We’re in Kathmandu now, which is supposedly free of the virus. Makes us nervous though, because if it hits here badly they don’t have much infrastructure to handle it! Uhg … figure we’ll stay updated & play it day by day : /
Hope you’re well, and give our best to Annette & Kyle!
Will do. Be safe.
