Steall Falls Hike

We took a short, rather frigid hike to Steall Waterfall in the Scottish Highlands. The Scottish name for the fall is An Steall Bàn, which translates to The White Spout. It is the second highest waterfall in Scotland, with a single drop of 390 feet. The falls drain into a valley that flows directly to the base of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain peak in the United Kingdom. We could have spent hours in the valley, staring in quiet contemplation with Steall Falls on the upper side of the valley, and Ben Nevis rising above the lower side of the valley … except for the uncomfortable condition of our extremities, which had started to turn as blue as the skies overhead : / Unfortunately, we are definitely not winter folk, and hiked out shortly after we arrived : p
