The City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) … took us a bit by surprise. We decided to go there because one of its’ venues was having an exhibition of movie props from the Harry Potter films : )
On our way to the ‘City’, we got off the metro and walked through the older downtown area of Valencia, then through the beautifully landscaped Turia Park … then … we walked a few centuries into the future!! We were a little afraid that the Borg might invade the city, abduct us and do nasty things to our frail organic bodies.
Turns out that the grounds we entered had a €900 million (about $1.1 billon) upgrade between 1996 and 2005, with the intent of providing a modern space to highlight the arts and sciences in Valencia.
