Smoo Cave, or Uamh Smudha which is Gaelic for the Largest Cave, does indeed have the largest sea cave opening in Britain. It was actually formed by a combination of erosion from the sea and an inland underground stream which created the innermost caverns. The stream falls through layers of rock into a 60 ft waterfall within one of the chambers. The cave entrance is located in Sutherland, on Scotland’s northern coast. It sits at the end of a long tidal gorge (Geodha Smoo) which was once part of the cave, but has since collapsed quite a long way. All in all, it was an interesting and beautiful place to explore!

Smoo was an interesting hole
Kind of weird spot, but fun to visit! 😎
Interesting, and beautiful. ❤️❤️👏❤️
The waterfall inside the cave was really lovely with the sunlight shining down through it – made the water seem to glow!
Dark creepy holes…..right up your alley along with some of the dark creepy castles. Yeek!!! I’m guessing I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat
Well, the saying Chris keeps reminding me is, ‘life really begins at the edge of your comfort zone.’ I do think there’s some truth to it!
