The Real Alcazar of Seville is a royal palace built by Castilian Christians in 1248 for King Peter of Castile. The upper levels of the Alcazar are still used by the royal family today as their residence.
The Alcazar has been used in a number of films and TV shows, including a couple of my very favorites. It was the location for the Sultan’s Palace in Fez, and the Bashaw’s Palace in Tangier for the movie The Wind and the Lion. It was also the location of the Water Garden of Dorne in the HBO series Game of Thrones.
Here’s a gallery highlighting the exterior gardens … Enjoy!

Have to check out The Wind and the Lion one more time. It’s also one of my favorite movies.
Photos just beautiful. . .as usual.
Have you come across any historical info about El Cid in your travels? Another favorite movie.
Haven’t seen the movie El Cid – we’ll have to check it out! We’ve only come across random references to him – especially in Valencia, where he died.
