Oslo and the MUNCH

Located on Norway’s southern coast, at the head of the Oslofjord, is Oslo – the capital and largest city of Norway. It has a very modern feel and is known for its many museums and parks. One museum we visited, simply referred to as the MUNCH, houses the world’s largest collection of Edvard Munch’s artwork.

Munch, a native Norwegian, was a quite prodigious Modernist artist, who worked mainly with paint and printmaking. He was known for his bold use of color and broad brushstrokes. His most famous work, The Scream, is actually four different pieces that look very similar – he was very interested in repetition on a theme. We’ve included views of Munch’s work along with those of Oslo’s scenery below. Enjoy!
