Norwegian Ferries and Tunnels

During our travels across Norway we came to appreciate the many convenient shortcuts across fjords and mountain ranges. We found our way onto quite a few car ferries, as well as through so many tunnels we lost count. Turns out, Norway has the most road tunnels per capita in the world, with over 1200! This includes the world’s longest tunnel, the Laerdal Tunnel, which is 24.5 kilometers (over 15 miles) long! It boasts two open rest stop areas blasted out of solid rock and LED lighting that changes colors!

I appreciate how the arctic peoples add a splash of color to surroundings. It’s delightful to see that application to their massive landscapes and tunnels!!
