I hope you both are doing fine. In honor of your trip, we finished watching the Hobbit and will begin The Lord of the Rings Trilogy shortly. Hopefully, we will follow in your footsteps at some not-so-distant-future.
BTW, I keep coming back to your quote of Albus Dumbledore, “Let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.“ It such a fabulous phrase that catches the very essence of what you are doing and so appropriate for your adventure. As bizarre as it may sound, I have fleeting image that I can almost capture in my minds eye, a feeling I can sense of the serenity and the wonder of all you are both experiencing. Perhaps the serenity comes from not experiencing the trials and tribulations you may be experiencing.
Traveling the world and experiencing the very essence of humanity, nature, and the coexistence of the two without the trappings of humanity or nature to a large extent while still being a part of it all, has to be the quintessential mode of existence. That is, of course, limited to its beauty and wonder. All bets are off when confronting everything else. Can the soul endure much of the latter after an immergence in the former. I’m having a glass or two of red wine and reading Shantaram, so forgive me.
We’re listening to The Fellowship of the Ring on audiobook now : ) If fact, our entire trip seems to have turned into a tour of LOTR’s filming locations. They do seem to be in all the most beautiful planes in the country!
I hope you guys are able to get on the road soon too … in fact, it’s looking like a bunch of soccer folk may be descending on France for the Women’s World Cup in June! Maybe you guys could plan a little trip then? ; )
We’re currently operating sober, so we’re unable to go too deep in thought … but yes, we’re able to find a good bit of serenity at times. Especially in the middle of a long hike, surrounded by breathtakingly open spaces & natural splendor. But in the infamous words of Buckaroo Banzai, ‘No matter where you go, there you are’.
spectacular !!!!!!! your photos are beautiful as usual……….keep them coming. love you both, Mom who in the hell is Buckaroo Banzai ? I do like his infamous words though.
‘The Adentures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighths Dimension’ is an awesomely stupid 80’s sci-fy comedy movie. Not sure if I could recommend it unless you really know what you’re getting into : p We love that kind of cheesy crap tho!
