New College, Oxford

New College is actually not a very new college. It was just newer than some of the older colleges in Oxford at the time of its founding in 1379. Its’ full name is Mary’s College of Winchester in Oxford. So, ‘New College’ is more of an antiquated description of the college that has stuck for over 500 years.

The college is known for its choir, which is regarded as one of the finest in the world. It has recorded over 100 albums and has been awarded 2 Gramophone Awards, which are essentially the Oscar’s of the classical recording industry.
