Mt Sunday (Edoras)

Mt Sunday was another set location used in Lord of the Rings.  We seem to be going to quite a few of those.  They did search for all the most dramatic & beautiful locations though, so it makes sense to seek them out!

Mt Sunday is the little ‘hill’ in the flats in the middle right of the first pic.  Looks tiny in the pic, but it’s actually about 300 feet high from the valley floor.

Here’s a shot from the movie.  They actually built the big structures on top … the town below was computer generated.
Views from the top are incredible!
Met a fellow nerd who insisted on taking a picture of us through her ‘One Ring’.  She said it was the thing to do if you’re a true fan : p   A tour group came with replica swords while we were there & took a bunch of pics while geeking out in fake battles …

  1. Very pretty. I believe Annette and I passed that way 25 years ago. Didn’t stop, although if my memory serves me, which it generally doesn’t, we pulled over. That’s it. Still, very pretty.
