Lyndhurst Mansion

On the road again!! Yay!!

Our first stop of consequence, after our four month hiatus in lovely Northern California, is to Lyndhurst Mansion, which is officially defined as a Gothic Revival Country House by those who define house/mansion/castle types. It sits on 67 rather opulent, and very beautifully landscaped acres of Hudson River-front land in Terrytown, New York.

Built in 1838 from Railroad money, the house was originally dubbed Lyndenhurst after the many Linden trees on the property. The 390 foot long, iron-framed, glass conservatory was one of the largest privately owned greenhouses in the United States when it was first built.

Here are a few pics from our visit … enjoy : )
