Here’s a gallery of miscellaneous photos from a brief stay on North Mavora Lake, and a brief few hours exploring the Luxmore Caves.
Mavora Lakes are a beautiful pair of lakes, South Mavora and North Mavora, which lay about halfway between Queenstown and Te Anau. Our interest was sparked in them, as it was for many sites we visited in New Zealand, because they were used as a filming location for the Lord of the Rings movies. We camped there for two nights, and did a couple of lovely hikes around both lakes.
Luxmore Caves are a limestone cave system in Fjordland National Park. There are multiple entrances located just a few minutes walk from Luxmore Hut, which was the second stop on our backpack of the Kepler Track.
