At the top of The Remarkables Mountains lies The Remarkables Ski Resort. Above the ski resort, you can hike to Lake Alta. It’s a very amazing location. We sat in the shade of a wind screen, made of rock by previous hikers, and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch on the shore of the lake.

Lake Alta is also the filming location for Mirromere Lake and Dimrill Dale in The Fellowship of the Ring. Dimrill Dale was the valley where the fellowship rested briefly after escaping their encounter with Durin’s Bane, the Balrog in the Mines of Moria.
