The cold, rainy Bay Area winter was a bit difficult for us – mostly because we were living in a house without a furnace! So, we decided to head down to the So Cal desert for some warmth and sunshine. The many funky boulders and cliffs of Joshua Tree National Park are perfect for climbing. We love that unique, open vibe of the desert, as well as the spiky, branching character of the cacti and Joshua Trees. Our little Kangaroo Rat friend helped us feel welcome in our campsite, too.

Pretty, but potentially very, very painful! Yes, we speak from experience (at least Chris does).

Beautiful sunset. I am in awe of your climbing exploits.
No need for the awe. It’s actually quite the perfect hobby for us old timers … being a super low impact, yet healthy activity! You should join us at the gym for an intro one of these days.
