While in the London area, we could not resist visiting a location that figured prominently in a novel we recently finished. We’re big fans of Robert Galbraith’s Cormoran Strike detective stories. One of the most recent novels, called The Ink Black Heart, takes place in North London’s Highgate Cemetery. Scenes of intrigue, murder and mayhem take place in and around this atmospheric early nineteenth century graveyard known for its dramatic architecture, winding paths and famous residents. It was very interesting to wander through actual areas that we had only imagined when reading the story!
Very interesting place. Looks like there were no recent burials there.
At least none that we are aware of.
The author Douglas Adams was buried there recently…..
….. and, yes, there was a towel at the grave……😜
Actually, it’s a massive cemetery! All the pictures we took are from the old side, since that was what pertained to the novel we’d read. There is another huge portion of the place where more modern and recent burials are located.
Bucket list.
Looks like a beautiful day to have visited.
