Hestercombe House and Gardens

Hestercombe is a country house in Somerset County which was originally built in the 16th century. The house is surrounded by gardens which have been restored to the British horticulturalist and garden designer Gertrude Jekyll’s original plans, from 1904 to 1907.  Jekyll created over 400 gardens in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States in her lifetime.

  1. Awesome Masonry & Arbor work! Is that Rock Daisy (Erigeron) I see by the pool/pump (?) house?!?

Much more casual landscape than I picture for an English Garden.

    Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Yes, there’s Erigeron growing out of everywhere over here! That and Centranthus (Jupiter’s Beard). They give a lot of these formal gardens a looser, more relaxed feel.
