Traveling across northern England, from coast to coast, we took in a few scenic locations.
Cromer is a charming tourist destination on the Norfolk coast, known for the tasty Cromer crabs pulled from the North Sea. It is also a location featured heavily in a murder/mystery novel we’d been reading. Definitely worth a look and a delicious (gluten free) fish and chips dinner!
Also prominently mentioned in the same murder/mystery novel is the Church of St. John the Baptist in nearby Aylmerton. Built in the 13th century, this stone church has a bell tower shaped much like a chess piece!
We fleetingly crossed the border into Scotland to see the picturesque Threave Castle. Located on a small island in the middle of the River Dee (no, not the one in Wales), the castle is actually the remains of a fortress tower built in 1369. It’s also situated in a lovely birding sanctuary were peregrine falcons can often be seen.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏
