Carlucci Land

We saw a few strange metal sculptures on the side of the road as we were driving to the coast just outside of Wellington.  Since we’re big fans of such things, we decided to stop and investigate.  The next few hours were spent inside the mind of a spectacularly creative, and slightly crazy, man’s world.  There was also a mini golf course meandering through the whole mess.  We could have spent days there!!

  1. OMG ! what a fantastic place………yes, creative and crazy. Bet Ange would have liked to bring them all home as garden art in Kentfield. I love knowing that there are people like this metal artist that live all over the world making others laugh and be amazed and just wondering the “how in the hell did he think of that” One other thing – what’s the food like in New Zealand ? Do you shop and cook in the van or do you eat out most of the time?

  2. Yeah, Angela was a bit frustrated that she couldn’t take it all home with her : p

We’ve only eaten out 3 times on our whole trip. We go to supermarkets & cook in the van. They have a ton of gluten free options for AJ, so it’s working out quite well! Haven’t had sushi for over a month now tho!!

  3. OK. Loving that you could ride all the metal art. And that alpine trail is amazing. What’s with the color of those lakes? Must be the volcanism. Love me a good volcano. Keep ’em coming, bro.

    1. Yes, the water colors were mesmerizing … we could have spent days there! They’re called the emerald lakes & the colors are due to dissolved minerals from nearby volcanic vents. Volcanos are cool : )
