After spending two weeks in the beautiful country of Croatia, we boarded a plane destined to the equally beautiful country of Malaysia.
The Batu Caves are a network of caves which formed in a 400 million year old limestone mogote (a steep sided tropical hill surrounded by flat alluvial plains) on the northern limits of Malaysia’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur. The caves are the site of one of the most important Hindu temples in Malaysia.
Here’s a couple photo galleries from our visit to the caves …
Chris, and our friend Allison, admiring the 140 ft statue of Lord Murugan - the Hindu deity of War and Victory.
The local Macaques are very handy pick pockets & always ready to relieve you of any food you may have.
There are a multitude of shrines all around the temple complex.
Ange & Allison braving the 272 multi colored, Macaque patrolled stairs leading up to the Temple Caves.
There are many more altars & shrines inside the massive limestone caves.
The almost 50 ft tall statue of Lord Hanuman, the Monkey King, outside of the Ramayana Cave.
Giant statue of the Hindu deity, Vishnu, standing over a kneeling King Rama in his chariot.
The Ramayana Cave contains diaramas telling the story of the epic Hindu poem, the Ramayana.
Monkeys. Like . . . everywhere. Nice statuary, but oh hell no. Did you melt the witch?
Oh man, that place was nothing compared to the Ubud monkey forest we just visited … monkeys on monkeys on monkeys. You would not approve. & no, Angela is still here 😈
Wow, dude. You will be a newt in the morning.
