The Daintree Rainforest and Brisbane

After a quick visit to the Daintree Rainforest, located 65 miles north of Cains, we drove south for four days to Brisbane, Australia’s third largest city and the Capitol of Queensland.

At around 180 million years old, The Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest rainforests in the world, nearly 10 million years older than the Amazon. It’s also home to an endangered population of cassowaries, an ancient, crazy looking bird that can grow to over 6 feet tall and weigh 180 pounds! We didn’t actually see one though … probably for the better as they can be quite aggressive towards humans.

Please enjoy a cassowary free gallery of pics!

Arriving on the Northeast Coast of Australia, in tropical Cairns, was a bit of a shock to the mind and body after spending almost a month in the dry, aired Outback. The transition happened in literally one hour of driving … crazy stuff!

Here’s a gallery of photos from our 5 day stay in Cairns!
